The Piaomiao Peak Scenic Area, located southwest of Xishan Island in Suzhou's Taihu Lake, covers a total area of 5 square kilometers and comprises Piaomiao Peak, Shuiyuewu, and Hancunwu. Piaomiao Peak, the highest of the 72 peaks of Taihu Lake, stands at 336 meters above sea level and earned its name from the fact that it is often shrouded in clouds and mist, resembling the legendary piaomiao fairyland.
Climbing up to the observation tower on the top of Piaomiao Peak, you can have a panoramic view of 36,000 hectares of lake and mountains. It is the best hiking destination in the Taihu Lake area.
Suzhou is suitable for tourism in all seasons, but spring and autumn are the best
Nearby are relics such as Ziyun Spring, Diquan Spring, Xianren Table, Denggaotai, and Wanghu Pavilion. Taihu Lake is ever-changing, and the peaks are often hidden in the clouds, appearing ethereal and misty, like fairy mountains separated by a sea of clouds, or like a jade belt connecting the Xialing Mountains. This creates a "misty and clear mountain" landscape, one of the eight scenic spots in Xishan.
