Guangdong Haizhu National Wetland Park (abbreviated as "Haizhu Wetland") is located in the southeast of Haizhu District, at the southern end of Guangzhou's new central axis. It stretches from the back channel of the Pearl River in the east to the south of Guangzhou Avenue in the west, from Huangpu Creek in the north to the back channel of the Pearl River in the south. It mainly includes 10,000 mu of orchards, Haizhu Lake and 39 related rivers and streams, with a total land area of 869 hectares and a water area of 377 hectares. It is a composite wetland ecosystem inlaid with river wetlands in the Pearl River Delta, urban lake wetlands and semi-natural fruit forests. It is an important ecological isolation zone in Guangzhou's urban area and is known as the "Southern Kidney" of Guangzhou. Together with the "Northern Lung" Baiyun Mountain, it constitutes the two major ecological barriers of Guangzhou's main urban area.
