
It is the first of the four major plum gardens in China and is a famous plum blossom viewing spot in my country. It is also the location of China's plum blossom research center. Covering an area of more than 800 mu, there are nearly 10,000 plum trees planted. Donghu Plum Garden currently has 309 varieties of plum blossoms, of which 152 have been registered internationally. Plum blossoms bloom from February to March every year.

Moshan Plum Garden is a historic and scenic site within East Lake, Wuhan, famous for its extensive collection of plum trees and traditional Chinese garden design. It is a popular cultural destination celebrating plum blossom festivals and Chinese horticultural heritage.
Located on Moshan Hill in East Lake, Wuhan. Visitors can take Metro Line 2 to Wangjiadun East Station and then a short taxi ride, or use local buses heading to East Lake Scenic Area. Walking or cycling from nearby East Lake areas is also possible.
Open daily from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The best time to visit is from late January to March when the plum blossoms are in full bloom.
Entrance fees are usually around 10–20 CNY. Tickets can be purchased at the park entrance; online booking may be available during peak plum blossom season.
For regular visits, advance booking is not required. During peak bloom season, booking 1–2 weeks ahead is recommended to avoid long lines.
About 2–3 hours to walk through the main garden areas, enjoy the blossoms, and explore scenic viewpoints.
Guided tours may be available in Chinese. English-language tours are limited and should be arranged in advance if needed.
Night visits are generally not permitted. Seasonal events or festivals may include guided activities during daytime hours.
It can be crowded during the plum blossom season and weekends. Weekdays outside peak bloom times are the least crowded.
Public restrooms, seating areas, small snack stalls, and souvenir shops are available near the entrance and main garden paths.
Most areas are accessible by walking paths, but some hilly sections may be challenging. Children and elderly should be cautious on slopes.
Cash is accepted for small purchases, though mobile payments (WeChat Pay, Alipay) are commonly accepted at entrances and shops.
There are small cafes and tea houses within East Lake Scenic Area, as well as local restaurants around Moshan Hill serving Wuhan cuisine.
Vegetarian options are available in local restaurants and tea houses. Halal options are limited and may require searching nearby Wuhan city areas.
Several hotels and guesthouses are located near East Lake, including East Lake International Hotel and nearby Wuhan city center accommodations.
Souvenir shops offer postcards, plum blossom-themed items, local crafts, and small potted plants.
Taxi, rideshare, or cycling paths along East Lake provide convenient options to explore other nearby attractions or return to central Wuhan.
