Qiandeng Ancient Town is located 15 kilometers north of Kunshan City, on the border between Suzhou and Shanghai. With a history spanning over 2,500 years, the town is the hometown of the renowned patriotic scholar Gu Yanwu and the birthplace of Kunqu Opera. Qiandeng was originally named "Qiandun," a reference to the Wu-Yue rivalry. The name "Qiandun" stems from the Gaodun, 30 miles south of Kunshan, which was the thousandth mound.
The town is home to not only the Yu’s Pawnshop, which is known as “China’s No. 1 Pawnshop”, but also the Ming and Qing Dynasty stone-paved streets, which are “unique in Jiangnan”, and the Nirvana statue of Sakyamuni meticulously carved from precious Burmese white jade; as well as attractions such as the Gu Jian Memorial Hall, Qinwang Mountain, Shaoqing Garden, Yanfu Temple, Sanqiao Yaoyue, and Qinfeng Tower.

Three Bridges Inviting the Moon
The Three Bridges epitomize the essence of Qiandeng Water Town's bridge culture. Crossing the Three Bridges opens the door to Qiandeng Ancient Town, a town steeped in over 2,000 years of history. Constructed in tandem, the three bridges each showcase distinct characteristics from the Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties. The smaller bridge to the east, Fangjingbang Bridge, is named after the Fangjingbang River and embodies a Ming Dynasty style.
Qinfeng Tower
Located west of Qiandengpu, south of Yanfu Temple, and in the heart of Qiandeng Town, the tower's floors are connected by staircases, each with a nanmu wood base. The top floor, once home to a teahouse, is also known for its wooden railings, offering panoramic views. A Qing Dynasty poem by Fang Haosi reads: "Thousands of towers rise one after another, reaching the sky, even stunting wild hawks."
Jade Buddha Hall
In the hall lies the world's largest jade reclining Buddha from Myanmar, which is listed in the Guinness Book of Records.
