Yuanhua was formerly known as Yuanhua, also known as Longshan, and also called Huaxi. There are many natural landscapes, known as the "Twelve Scenic Spots of Huaxi", while some say there are ten or fourteen scenic spots. Historical records vary, and folk legends are diverse.

Jin Yong's Former Residence
Located in Xinwei Village, Yuanhua Town, Haining City, Jin Yong's Former Residence is the former residence and birthplace of renowned martial arts novelist Jin Yong. During the Qing Dynasty, the Cha family boasted "ten Jinshi scholars and three Hanlin scholars," and was hailed by Emperor Kangxi as "a prominent family since the Tang and Song dynasties, one of the most prominent in Jiangnan."
