Introducing Guxiang Lake

Located in an ancient village, it is 33 kilometers away from Bomi County in Tibet and 210 kilometers away from Nyingchi Prefecture. The lake is 2,600 meters above sea level, 5 kilometers long, 2 kilometers wide at its widest point, more than 20 meters deep at its deepest point, and covers an area of 20,000 square meters. It is a freshwater barrier lake.

It is a perfect combination of snow-capped mountains, grasslands, and evergreen primeval forests all year round. The favorable climate and abundant natural resources make it one of the most fertile regions in Tibet.

The lake contains a small island covering over 1,000 square meters. Located on National Highway 318, it offers convenient transportation and is a natural park. The lake was formed in 1953 when the Xionglugeni glacier in the mountains behind Guxiang triggered a massive mudslide called the Kagong Nongba glacier, blocking the Parlung Tsangpo River.
