Yushan, located near Wuyi Square in downtown Fuzhou, is also known as Jiuxian Mountain, after legend has it that nine He brothers from the Han Dynasty practiced alchemy and cultivating immortality here. It is also said that a branch of the ancient Yuyue clan, a clan from the Warring States Period , inhabited the area, giving it the name. The mountain covers 11.9 hectares and stands 58.6 meters high . Among the attractions are the Dashi Hall, Dingguang Pagoda, Qigong Temple, and cliff carvings.
The main attractions include Pingyuan Terrace and Qigong Temple, Jiuxian Temple and Tianjun Hall, Dashi Hall, Baoen Dingguang Duobao Pagoda (also known as the White Pagoda), etc. There are also more than 100 cliff carvings on the mountain since the Song Dynasty .
Yushan boasts numerous cliff inscriptions, including 113 sections scattered across Aoding Peak, Qigong Temple, and Penglai Peak. The "Nanjiaochang Yanwu Hall Inscription" in Shannan, measuring 330 cm high and 455 cm wide , contains 219 characters and is the largest cliff inscription in Fuzhou.
