Introducing Shizhong Mountain

Shizhong Mountain, known as "China's First Mountain of Strange Sound," is located in Hukou County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, at the confluence of the Yangtze River and Poyang Lake. It is a national scenic spot, a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction, and one of the main attractions along the lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

Shizhong Mountain is 61.8 meters above sea level, with a relative height of approximately 40 meters and an area of 0.2 square kilometers. It is named for the numerous crevices in the rocks, where the collision of water and rock creates a sound resembling the chiming of a bell. The renowned Northern Song Dynasty writer Su Shi once moored at the foot of the mountain. His famous poem "Notes on Shizhong Mountain" complements the mountain beautifully.

Shizhong Mountain is actually not one mountain, but two. Both are composed of limestone, each with a cave at its base, shaped like an inverted bell and facing a deep pool. A gentle breeze whips up waves, and the collision of water and rock creates a resounding sound like a bell, hence the name "Shizhong Mountain." The two mountains, located north and south, are less than 1,000 meters apart. The southern peak, bordering Poyang Lake, is known as Upper Zhongshan; the northern peak, bordering the Yangtze River, is known as Lower Zhongshan. Together, the two are known as the "Shuangzhong Mountains."

Shizhong Mountain stands proudly on the banks of the Yangtze River and Poyang Lake, offering magnificent scenery. Like an iron lock hanging at the gate of Hukou County, it is known as the "Key to the Rivers and Lakes" and has served as a military fortress since ancient times.
