Sixiyan Village is located in Sikou Town, Wuyuan County, Jiangxi Province, approximately 13 kilometers from Ziyang Town, the county seat. Founded in 1199, the fifth year of the Qingyuan reign of the Southern Song Dynasty, it boasts a history of over 800 years. The village's founder, the Yu family, named it after the fish that yearned for the clear waters of the stream. For centuries, they engaged in commerce in Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Hunan, and Guangxi, primarily in timber, tea, and salt. Many of those who became wealthy through business returned to their hometowns with their capital, purchasing land and property, building academies, and constructing numerous mansions, pavilions, ancestral halls, and memorial archways.
The village is primarily composed of ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Paved with bluestone, the buildings are nestled against verdant hills, facing a clear stream and rice paddies, and surrounded by greenery. The village blends seamlessly into the elegant natural scenery of the beautiful waters and green mountains. There are currently 172 households and 667 people, occupying approximately 8.6 hectares. There are 156 ancient dwellings, including five from the Ming Dynasty and over 80 from the Qing Dynasty. The remaining ancient buildings cover an area of approximately 16,000 square meters. Most of the ancient dwellings feature whitewashed walls and black tiles.

Nestled between mountains and rivers, with "Torch Mountain" at its back, the Sixi River flows in front of the village. The entire Yan Village is like a bamboo raft nestled on the bank of the Sixi River. The air is fresh and it is suitable for travel in all seasons.
Congting Hall is a famous scholarly home in Yancun. It was built by the ancestors of Huizhou merchant Jin Jiazao during the Qianlong period and still retains its ancient charm. Jin Jiazao had ten sons, hence the name "Ten Families of the Jin Clan".
Mingxun Hall, this ancient house with three buildings connected together, can be said to be the "Qiao Family Compound" of Yancun. Its owner, Jin Yongqu, is also the most representative Huizhou merchant of Yancun.
The Yuqingtang Ancient House was built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. The old owner of the house, Jin Wenjian, was a big tea merchant. In feudal society, merchants were rich but not noble, and they had the lowest status among the "scholars, farmers, merchants and artisans".
