Libo Zhangjiang River is comprised of three scenic areas: Daqikong, Xiaoqikong, and Shuichun River Gorge. The scenic area is adjacent to the Libo Maolin Karst Primeval Forest Nature Reserve. The karst landscape, cascading over mountainous terrain, is blanketed in lush primeval forests, interwoven with rivers, lakes, streams, and waterfalls.
The scenic area is characterized by rich and diverse karst landforms, the beautiful and unique Zhangjiang waterscape, lush and prosperous primeval forests, and various rare species of animals and plants. It combines the unique natural scenery of mountains and rivers with the ethnic characteristics of the local Buyi, Shui, Yao and other ethnic groups. It is the first World Natural Heritage Site in Guizhou.
The cultural landscape in the Zhangjiang Scenic Area is also quite unique. There is the former residence of the martyr Deng Enming, the only minority representative at the First Congress of the Communist Party of China , the cave burials that have been passed down to this day in Yaolu, as well as the rough, ancient and distinctive folk customs, which are very attractive.
Libo has a mild climate with four distinct seasons, with mild winters and mild summers, and the best time to visit is from April to August . The main attraction is the water, especially in the water forests, which are larger and higher, making them ideal for rafting.
Xiaoqikong Scenic Area
One of the four scenic areas of the Zhangjiang Scenic Area, the scenic area integrates forests, caves, lakes, rocks, and water, creating a delicate and beautiful scene known as a " super bonsai . " Known for its exquisiteness, beauty, simplicity, and tranquility, the area offers a constantly changing landscape, offering a constant sense of wonder.
Daqikong Scenic Area
One of the four scenic areas of the Zhangjiang Scenic Area, the scenic area integrates karst landforms and hydrological landscapes, featuring primeval forests, canyons, underground streams, and underground lakes. The landscape is steep, magical, majestic, and full of thrills and mystique. Key attractions include the Daqikong Ancient Bridge, Horror Gorge, Natural Bridge, Demon Wind Cave, Di'e Forest, Longtou Mountain, Erceng River, and Di'e Palace.
Shuichun River Scenic Area
It is also the longest canyon in the scenic area. Mountains rise on both sides of the canyon, pressing against the river valley. The relative height difference between the cliffs and peaks is about 200 to 300 meters, while the water surface is only a few meters high to a dozen meters wide. This creates a unique and dangerous landscape of " thirteen waves and seven rapids " , making it a popular destination for rafting adventures.
