MCI Parking
I have not flown out of MCI since the updates. Where is a good place to park for 3 days when flying Southwest?
Flying out of Kansas City International (MCI) and parking for a few days, especially with Southwest Airlines, has become simpler after the recent updates to the terminals. Here’s a detailed guide to help you choose the best parking option for a 3-day trip:
On-Airport Parking:
- Cell Phone Lot / Terminal Garage: MCI has three terminal parking garages (Terminal A, B, and C). Since Southwest mainly operates out of Terminal B, the Terminal B garage is the most convenient for a 3-day stay. You can park close to the check-in counters and walk directly inside the terminal.
- Rates: Daily parking is generally around $18–$20 per day. For 3 days, expect $54–$60. Garages are covered and offer direct terminal access, which is convenient for luggage and bad weather.
Economy / Long-Term Parking:
- MCI also has economy lots farther from the terminals, with shuttle service to each terminal. These lots are less expensive than the terminal garages, typically around $12–$15 per day.
- Shuttle service runs frequently and can save you some money, though it adds a few extra minutes to your check-in and departure process.
Off-Airport Parking Options:
- Several private parking lots and valet services near MCI offer competitive daily rates ($10–$15 per day) and shuttle service to the terminals. Examples include Park2Go and KC Airport Parking.
- Some of these services may include covered parking or indoor valet, providing extra protection for your vehicle during your trip.
Tips:
- If convenience is your priority, park in Terminal B garage for Southwest flights; you can walk directly to check-in without relying on shuttles.
- Reserve your spot online if possible, especially for a busy travel period, as MCI garages can fill quickly.
- Factor in a few extra minutes for shuttle pick-up if using economy lots or off-airport parking.
Overall, for a 3-day Southwest trip, the Terminal B garage offers the best combination of convenience and reliability, while economy lots or nearby off-airport lots are budget-friendly alternatives if a short shuttle ride is acceptable.
