Restaurant in the Saint Louis Area

Hello all! I am looking for a restaurant recommendation for a group of 10-15 people in the area around or near SLU. My son is graduating in December and will be commissioning into the military that day as well. We want to go out with all of us to celebrate and he has not given me any suggestions so far. I am not too worried about the cost, just looking for good food in a nice environment.

Thanks in advance!

Congratulations to your son on his graduation and commissioning! Saint Louis offers a variety of excellent dining options near Saint Louis University (SLU) that can comfortably accommodate a larger group while providing a celebratory atmosphere.

Here are several recommendations for restaurants that are well-suited for a group of 10–15 people, offering good food and a pleasant environment:

  • Olive + Oak – Located near downtown, this restaurant offers New American cuisine with a modern twist. It has private dining options and a warm, contemporary atmosphere suitable for celebrations.
  • Brasserie by Niche – A French-inspired brasserie with classic bistro fare. Known for attentive service and accommodating larger parties, it provides a sophisticated but relaxed environment.
  • Elaia – Mediterranean and Greek cuisine, elegant yet welcoming, with a variety of dishes that cater to different tastes. The menu is versatile enough for groups, and the ambiance is upscale without being stiff.
  • Seasons 52 – Located in Clayton, a short drive from SLU, this restaurant is known for seasonal menus and a lighter, fresh approach. They can accommodate large parties and offer private dining options.
  • Vin de Set – French bistro with a charming European vibe, offering a variety of classic French dishes. The space can handle medium-sized groups and is perfect for a celebratory dinner.
  • Charleville – Located in Lafayette Square, it features contemporary American cuisine with a comfortable, intimate atmosphere and private dining areas for groups.

Additional tips for booking:

  • Reserve well in advance, especially for December, as holiday season and graduation time can be busy.
  • Ask about private or semi-private dining rooms if you want a more intimate experience for your group.
  • Confirm the menu options for larger groups — some restaurants offer pre-fixed menus for parties, which can simplify ordering and ensure timely service.
  • Consider parking options nearby, particularly in the SLU area where street parking can be limited; many restaurants can suggest valet or nearby parking garages.

Overall, for a milestone celebration like this, focusing on a restaurant that offers both a comfortable environment for conversation and quality food will make the experience memorable. The above options balance ambiance, service, and culinary excellence while accommodating a medium-sized group.
