Mobile passport control

Hello

Travelling from Scotland in 2 weeks times and was wondering if I was able to use the MPC app? I got an email and wasn’t sure if I can use it or not with my ESTA

The Mobile Passport Control (MPC) app is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program that allows eligible travelers to expedite their entry into the United States by submitting passport information and customs declarations via a smartphone or tablet.

Eligibility with ESTA:

  • Yes, travelers arriving under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) with an approved ESTA are eligible to use the MPC app.
  • This includes travelers from the United Kingdom, so as a traveler from Scotland, you can use MPC provided your ESTA is approved and valid.

How it works:

  • Download the official Mobile Passport Control app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store before you arrive.
  • Create a profile with your passport information and travel details.
  • Upon arrival at participating U.S. airports (including Las Vegas McCarran / Harry Reid International Airport), submit your information through the app before proceeding to the MPC lanes.
  • You will receive an electronic QR code to present to a CBP officer, which typically allows for faster processing than regular passport control lines.

Tips:

  • Ensure your phone is charged and that you have mobile data or airport Wi-Fi to submit the form upon arrival.
  • MPC can be used by multiple travelers on the same device, so families can submit separate forms together.
  • While MPC speeds up entry, be prepared for standard security checks and have all necessary documents ready.

In summary, with an approved ESTA, you are eligible to use the Mobile Passport Control app in Las Vegas. It is a convenient way to reduce wait times at customs and streamline your arrival process.
