Parking
Can anyone tell me the best place to park close to Homewood suites? We’re coming in in October. Thanks so much.
If you're staying at Homewood Suites in Savannah, you're in a great spot to explore the city! The hotel is located in the Historic District, where parking can sometimes be challenging due to the area's popularity. However, there are several convenient options for parking nearby:
- Homewood Suites Parking: The hotel itself offers on-site parking, but availability can vary depending on the time of year. It's worth checking directly with the hotel to confirm parking options and whether there are any fees. Some hotels in the Historic District charge a daily parking fee, so it's good to inquire about this ahead of time.
- City of Savannah Parking Garages: If the hotel lot is full or you'd prefer additional options, there are several parking garages in the area. The closest to Homewood Suites is the Liberty Street Parking Garage, located just a few blocks away. It's a public garage, and rates are typically reasonable for daily parking.
- Metered Street Parking: Savannah's Historic District has metered street parking, and you can often find spots near the hotel. Be sure to check the parking signs for hours of enforcement, as meters are typically active from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Some areas might allow free parking during evenings or weekends, but it's always good to double-check the posted rules.
- Parking Lots Near River Street: If you're planning to visit the waterfront or River Street, there are public lots and garages that offer parking for a flat daily rate. Some of these are just a short walk from Homewood Suites, making them a convenient option if you want to be close to popular attractions but not necessarily park directly at the hotel.
As you're coming in October, which is a busy time in Savannah due to fall events and tourism, I would recommend arriving early in the day if possible to secure parking. If you're visiting during a busy weekend or event, consider calling ahead to confirm parking options at the hotel or inquire about parking at nearby garages.
In general, parking in the Historic District can be limited but manageable, and there are plenty of options within walking distance. Enjoy your stay in Savannah!
