Stones concert June 7 walking to hotel, safe?

Coming into ATL for the Stones concert on June 7th. Staying at the Hampton on Ted Turner Drive. We want to walk to the stadium and we are just wondering about the safety walkng home later at night. Do we need to be worried? Going to eat at the Montana Grill on the way there, so hoping that is a good stop over on our walk. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Walking from your hotel, the Hampton Inn on Ted Turner Drive, to the stadium for the Rolling Stones concert is generally safe, but there are a few things to keep in mind to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience.

Safety of the Walk:

The distance between your hotel and the stadium is roughly 0.5 miles (about a 10-minute walk), which puts you in close proximity to many of the downtown attractions and is generally safe, especially in the evening. That said, downtown Atlanta can be bustling with people on event days, so it's important to stay alert, especially at night when things may quiet down. The walk itself is in a fairly commercial area with plenty of businesses, but like any urban area, it's best to avoid poorly lit or isolated streets after dark.

  • Tips for safety:
    • Stick to well-lit, busy streets, particularly in the downtown and vicinity areas.
    • Consider walking with a group or other concert-goers to enhance safety.
    • Keep an eye on your belongings, especially in crowded areas before and after the concert.
    • Be mindful of traffic, as Atlanta's downtown can get busy, even late at night.

Montana Grill Stop:

The Montana Grill is a good stop for a meal before the concert. It’s located in a busy area and should be fine for a break during your walk. It's a relatively casual spot, known for its hearty American fare and is well regarded for its food quality. After dinner, the walk to the stadium should be short, and you’ll be in the vicinity of other restaurants, bars, and shops, which generally ensures a safe environment.

Additional Tips:

  • Post-concert walk: After the concert, you may want to consider calling a cab or using a rideshare service, especially if it's late. The area will be busy with concert-goers, and the crowds will help create a sense of safety, but rideshare options might be more comfortable if you’re not familiar with the area or if you’d prefer not to walk at night.
  • Public Transportation: MARTA is a good option if you decide not to walk. The Peachtree Center MARTA station is relatively close to your hotel and the stadium, so you can use public transit if you prefer to avoid walking altogether.

Summary:

Walking from the Hampton Inn to the stadium is generally safe, especially with the busy atmosphere around event times. Staying alert, walking in well-lit areas, and keeping your belongings secure are key to ensuring a safe experience. Montana Grill is a good pre-concert spot, and afterward, you can either walk back or consider a rideshare for added convenience and comfort. Enjoy the concert!
