Marta line

Which MARTA line would I get on at the airport traveling to and from Mercedes Benz Stadium? I know the MARTA station at the airport is currently under renovation. This trip would be in the fall. I have taken MARTA before but that was a straight long trip on the Gold line from the airport to the Brookhaven (Oglethorpe) station. A long trip but pretty straightforward. I'm asking about this because I think it may be necessary to switch lines somewhere. Thanks in advance.

For your trip from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to Mercedes-Benz Stadium, you will take MARTA's Gold Line (which is now known as the Gold or Red Line on the current map), but there is a transfer involved due to the station renovations at the airport.

Since you are familiar with the Gold Line, here’s a breakdown of the current MARTA system as it relates to your trip:

  • Airport to Five Points Station: From the airport, you’ll board the Gold Line (or Red Line) at the airport MARTA station. The Gold and Red Lines are technically the same line at the moment, so don’t worry about which one you board. This will take you toward the Five Points Station.
  • Transfer at Five Points Station: At Five Points, you will transfer to the Blue Line (East-West Line) towards the westbound direction (towards the "Vine City" or "Ashby" stations). Five Points is where the Gold/Red and Blue lines intersect.
  • Arriving at Mercedes-Benz Stadium: From Five Points, you’ll take the Blue Line one stop to GWCC/CNN Center Station. Mercedes-Benz Stadium is just a short walk from the GWCC/CNN Center Station, and signs should direct you to the stadium.

It’s worth noting that MARTA’s construction and renovation projects may lead to some temporary changes, but as of the latest updates, this is the most common route. If the renovations are still ongoing during your visit in the fall, be sure to check the MARTA website for any last-minute updates on station changes or closures.

Overall, while you will need to transfer at Five Points, it’s still a pretty straightforward trip. Enjoy your time in Atlanta, and I hope the game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium is a great experience!
