Parking pass question
Staying for 5 nites and was wondering on the day of departure, If you are leaving the island at 6.A.M. is it considered another day that you have to pay ? Will be arrivng in a rental and so probably can't buy the pass online as yet. Is there a person at the gate to answer questions or is the parking/entry permit strictly automated...?
When visiting Jekyll Island, the parking pass system is generally based on a daily rate for parking on the island, so if you're departing early in the morning (e.g., 6:00 AM), you will likely need to pay for the day if your parking pass was for a previous day. The passes are typically charged per calendar day, so even if you leave early, it's considered another day of parking. However, there are a few things to keep in mind:
- Automated Entry: Jekyll Island has an automated system for parking entry and exit. You’ll generally need to pay for parking via a kiosk or online system, which can sometimes be automated, depending on the location. It's a good idea to check ahead to ensure your pass is valid through the time of departure if you're leaving early in the morning.
- Purchasing a Pass: If you're renting a car and can’t buy the pass online ahead of time, you should be able to purchase a parking pass on-site at the gate. There are usually staff members at the entry gates during business hours to assist, and they can help clarify your questions regarding the parking pass, including the daily rate.
- Gate Assistance: Even if the system is mostly automated, there are typically staff members at the gate during certain hours to answer any questions. If you are leaving early, it’s possible that you might not have access to someone at the gate at that time, but the automated system should allow you to exit without issues. It’s recommended to check the entry information or the island's website for any special instructions for early departures.
What to Do:
- Double-check the parking pass details when you arrive to ensure that the day of departure is included, or prepare to pay for the extra day if needed.
- If you're unsure, try contacting the Jekyll Island parking services ahead of time to clarify the policy on early departures.
- Make sure you keep a receipt of your payment, in case there’s any issue when leaving the island.
In general, the process should be straightforward, but if you're departing early in the morning, it's always a good idea to be aware of any automated or staff-based processes for your convenience.
