Late March/Early April
Hello
I am looking to book a trip for the last few days in March into the beginning of April, can you tell me are restaurants/shops open? I am assuming the pools are open at the hotels and it will be warm enough to enjoy?
Late March to early April is a lovely time to visit Jekyll Island, Georgia, as the weather starts to warm up and the island becomes more active. However, it's always a good idea to check specific details as some seasonal variations may apply. Here’s what you can expect:
- Restaurants and Shops: Most restaurants and shops on Jekyll Island begin to open for the spring season in late March. While some of the more seasonal spots may still be closed in the first week of April, many of the main establishments, especially along the beachfront or in the Historic District, will be open. Popular restaurants like The Wharf Restaurant, The Beach House, and The Jekyll Island Club Resort's Grand Dining Room are likely to be open. Be sure to check ahead for any that may still be in off-season hours.
- Hotel Pools: Most hotels on Jekyll Island open their pools by late March, and while it’s not the peak of summer warmth, the temperatures should be comfortable enough for poolside relaxation. The average daytime temperature in late March to early April on Jekyll Island usually ranges between 60°F to 75°F (15°C to 24°C), which is warm enough for a dip, though the water may still be a little cool for some. Check directly with your hotel for pool availability and hours.
- Weather: The weather during this time is typically mild and pleasant, with warm afternoons and cooler evenings. It’s a great time to enjoy outdoor activities like bike riding, walking along the beach, or exploring the island's nature trails. While it may not be hot enough for sunbathing all day, it should be warm enough to enjoy outdoor activities comfortably. However, there is always a possibility of occasional spring showers, so it’s good to pack accordingly.
- Activities: Many outdoor activities, such as nature walks, kayaking, and visiting the Jekyll Island Historic District, will be available. The Jekyll Island Club and various attractions like the Georgia Sea Turtle Center and Driftwood Beach will also be open. Just check ahead for any specific closures or limited hours for certain activities or tours.
Overall, late March and early April are a great time to visit Jekyll Island, as it’s generally warm enough for outdoor activities, and the island begins to buzz with seasonal visitors. Be sure to confirm with any specific venues you plan to visit, but in general, you should be able to enjoy your trip with plenty of open restaurants, shops, and activities.
