Surrounding area - place to chill

My husband and I always take a 2-week post Christmas trip and get a home rental (you know the ones) as a home base. Each day (almost) we take day trips in the area; usually 1-1.5 hr drive one way. Looking for areas or communities that would be good. We are older and not looking for nightlife activities so not really interested in those areas- at night. Just us and our dog relaxing. We’ve been fortunate to find good safe areas in the past but typically it’s not near a touristy city/location.

If you're looking for a peaceful, laid-back environment with access to scenic spots and day trips, the Georgia coast around Savannah offers several charming areas to consider.
