Darn nice hotel
My wife is turning 65 in November and we are coming down from Canada for a visit.
Missouri, Kansas, I don't know I just want a darn nice hotel for us.
Keep in mind, we are from a town that doesn't even have a stop light. What's a nice place, close to a great rib place, that we can safely walk to?
Any help appreciated.
For a special trip to Kansas City in November, especially to celebrate a milestone birthday, you’ll want a hotel that combines comfort, style, and proximity to some of the city’s iconic attractions, particularly its famous barbecue.
Hotel Options:
- The Fontaine: A luxury boutique hotel in the Country Club Plaza area. Beautifully designed, very walkable, and close to top restaurants and shops. Offers elegant rooms, a rooftop bar, and easy access to walking paths.
- 21c Museum Hotel Kansas City: A modern art-focused boutique hotel downtown, offering a unique cultural experience. Within walking distance to Power & Light District and some good dining options, including BBQ spots a short ride away.
- The Westin Kansas City at Crown Center: Downtown location with modern rooms, safe and walkable surroundings. Close to Union Station and a short ride or walk to several well-known rib joints.
- Hotel Kansas City: Stylish and historic hotel downtown with classic charm and modern amenities. Walking distance to many downtown restaurants, bars, and cultural attractions.
Nearby Rib and BBQ Options:
- Jack Stack Barbecue – Freight House: One of the city’s most famous BBQ restaurants. About a short ride from downtown or some locations within walking distance depending on hotel choice.
- Q39: Modern, upscale BBQ spot that’s highly rated and walkable if staying near midtown or the Country Club Plaza.
- Arthur Bryant’s Barbeque: Historic BBQ institution, a bit farther downtown but very iconic for a true KC experience.
For your situation, staying near the Country Club Plaza or a well-reviewed downtown hotel is ideal. Both areas are safe, walkable, and offer plenty of dining and entertainment options without needing a car. You can enjoy a leisurely stroll, access good restaurants, and have a special comfortable hotel for the celebration.
