Looks like beautiful weather all week until we arrive on Saturday 9/28-10/4 and then it appears 40+% chance of rain daily. I don't mind a shower but all day rain would be miserable. I know no one can predict the weather accurately but what is your personal experience? We do have the option to cancel but really don't want to....hoping for a change in forecast.
It’s true that weather forecasts can change, especially when predicting rain several days out. While I can’t guarantee exactly what the weather will be like, I can give you some insights based on general patterns and personal experiences with weather in Savannah during late September and early October.
In Savannah, the weather during this time of year is typically warm, but the chance of rain increases as you get closer to October. Late September marks the tail end of hurricane season, so you may see some tropical showers or storms pop up, but these are usually short-lived and often occur in the late afternoon or evening. A 40% chance of rain doesn’t necessarily mean it will rain all day; it just means that there’s a 40% likelihood of rain happening at some point during the day.
Personal experience tells me that even when rain is forecasted, it’s often in the form of short, heavy showers that clear up quickly. For example, you might get a quick 30-minute downpour in the afternoon, and then the skies clear again, leaving you with more sunshine. This can actually be a nice way to break up the heat, especially in the warmer months. So, don’t let a forecast with a chance of rain completely dampen your spirits. There’s still plenty to enjoy in Savannah, rain or shine.
Ultimately, you may not experience the rain as much as the forecast suggests, and even if you do, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy Savannah’s charm indoors. If you’re set on your dates and have the option to cancel, it might be worth taking a chance, as weather forecasts can change as you get closer to your trip. The weather in Savannah has a way of surprising you, and often, the forecast turns out to be more optimistic as the date approaches!
If you’re not completely set on your dates, keep an eye on the forecast as it gets closer to your trip, and you can make a more informed decision about whether to adjust your plans. But overall, I wouldn’t let the forecast deter you from visiting Savannah—it’s a beautiful city with a lot to offer, rain or shine!
