Waikiki beach hotel chair/umbrella rentals

I have read several posts and still am confused. Staying at the Outrigger in Feb. and looking to rent beach chair/umbrella for the day in front of my hotel (blue umbrellas). Outrigger says this is provided by "outside vendors at the beach." Waikiki Beach Services website say they provide rentals at the Royal Hawaiian (red umbrellas). Aloha Beach Services website say they are based at the Moana Surfrider (green umbrellas). Any idea how to rent the blue umbrellas at the Outrigger? Thanks.

When staying at the Outrigger Waikiki, you’ll find that the beach chair and umbrella rentals are indeed handled by outside vendors, not directly through the hotel. As you noted, the blue umbrellas are the ones typically located in front of the Outrigger, and these are managed by a different service than the ones at the Royal Hawaiian or Moana Surfrider. Here's a breakdown of how to rent the blue umbrellas and chairs:

  • Waikiki Beach Services:
While Waikiki Beach Services is primarily based at the Royal Hawaiian (offering the red umbrellas), they also operate throughout Waikiki Beach and may provide services for the Outrigger area. You can contact them directly to inquire if they handle rentals near the Outrigger. It’s always a good idea to confirm availability ahead of time, especially during busy months like February.
  • Aloha Beach Services:
Aloha Beach Services is located at the Moana Surfrider and offers a variety of rentals, including umbrellas and chairs. They are known for having green umbrellas, but it’s possible they also manage some rentals around the Outrigger. Again, reaching out directly to them could clarify whether they handle the blue umbrellas in front of the Outrigger.
  • Beach Boys (Outrigger Beach Rentals):
The “Beach Boys” in front of the Outrigger Waikiki are often responsible for managing the rentals of blue umbrellas and chairs directly in front of the hotel. They are the ones who assist guests with setting up the chairs, umbrellas, and other beach gear. You can ask the hotel front desk or the concierge for details on how to rent directly from them. Typically, the pricing is around $30-$50 per day depending on the season, and they can help you with any requests once you arrive on the beach.

How to Rent:
- When you arrive at the beach, look for the Beach Boys who typically set up umbrellas and chairs directly in front of the Outrigger Waikiki. These staff members can be approached for rentals. - Alternatively, you can inquire about rentals through the Outrigger concierge or front desk before you arrive, to ensure availability for your dates. - If you prefer to reserve ahead, some third-party vendors do allow online reservations for Waikiki beach chairs and umbrellas, though availability for the specific "blue" umbrellas will depend on the vendor they are coordinated through.

It’s best to contact both the hotel and the vendors ahead of time to avoid any confusion once you arrive. Enjoy your trip, and I hope you get the perfect setup on Waikiki Beach!
