Uber to Milwaukee
I am arriving at ORD at 4pm on a Sunday and wanting to get a uber to Milwaukee ! Has anyone had recent experience with this trip, my concern is that it’s to far for the driver and will cancel etc
Thank you
Taking an Uber from O'Hare (ORD) to Milwaukee is definitely possible, but there are a few factors to keep in mind:
- Distance and Time: The trip from ORD to Milwaukee is about 90 miles (around 1.5 to 2 hours of driving time, depending on traffic). It’s not an uncommon route for Uber drivers, but it is on the longer side, so there’s a possibility of surge pricing and higher ride costs, especially if there’s heavy traffic on I-94.
- Driver Willingness: Most Uber drivers in Chicago are willing to take long trips, but some might be hesitant due to the distance. However, drivers are usually compensated well for longer trips, so if the fare is high enough, you are more likely to find a driver willing to go. You can also look at the fare estimate on the app beforehand to help decide if it’s worth the cost for you.
- App Fare Estimate: Before booking, use the Uber app to get a fare estimate for the trip. Keep in mind that fare estimates can change depending on traffic, surge pricing, and the type of ride (UberX, UberXL, etc.). Be sure to check if surge pricing is in effect, especially during peak hours like 4pm on a Sunday when the airport might be busier.
- Cancellation Concerns: If a driver decides to cancel, it could be due to the long distance or a mismatch with pricing expectations. If this happens, you can try requesting another Uber or explore other options like taking a ride to a nearby public transit station (e.g., Amtrak or Greyhound) and continuing your journey to Milwaukee from there.
If you want to minimize the chances of cancellation, you could also try booking the ride in advance if Uber allows it. However, keep in mind that availability of long-distance drivers can vary based on the time of day and how busy the area is.
Overall, it’s definitely feasible, but I recommend being flexible and ready for a slightly longer wait or higher price if needed. Also, if you're open to alternatives, there are shuttle services, trains (Amtrak), or buses that could be more economical for long trips like this!
