Babb to Bozeman

Hello, traveling in July on extensive road trip. which includes Yellowstone & Glacier. I miscalculated one day and now we have a full day of free time after GNP on our way back to the airport (Bozeman).

Looking for a great place to visit to add to trip (From Glacier NP to Bozeman). I see there are several routes we can take to Bozeman. Thanks

It sounds like you’ve got an amazing road trip planned, and that extra day between Glacier National Park and Bozeman could be the perfect opportunity to explore even more of Montana's beautiful scenery and landmarks! There are a few great routes and spots you could consider adding to your itinerary.

Here are a few suggestions for places to visit on your way from Glacier National Park to Bozeman:

  • Going-to-the-Sun Road and Lake McDonald (via West Glacier) – If you haven’t already fully explored the Going-to-the-Sun Road, it’s a scenic drive worth taking. You could spend some extra time around Lake McDonald, hiking or taking a boat tour if the weather’s nice. This could also give you a relaxing start to your journey before heading south toward Bozeman.
  • Big Sky – If you’re looking for mountain views, consider stopping in Big Sky, about 1.5 hours south of Bozeman. It’s famous for its ski resort but offers fantastic summer activities like hiking, zip-lining, and scenic chairlift rides. The drive there offers great views, and you can easily spend a few hours exploring.
  • Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park – About halfway between Bozeman and Helena, this state park is known for its fascinating limestone caverns. The guided tours through the caves are an incredible experience and a cool break from the long drive. It’s an excellent stop for a few hours and offers a unique, underground experience.
  • Helena – If you’re interested in history, you might want to swing by the state capital, Helena, which is just off Highway 15. You can visit the beautiful Montana State Capitol, explore the historic district, or take in the views from Mount Helena. It’s a bit off the main route, but well worth it if you’re looking for a scenic and educational stop.
  • Bozeman Hot Springs – If you want to unwind before heading to the airport, stop by Bozeman Hot Springs. It’s located just outside the town and offers a relaxing soak in natural hot springs. It’s a great way to relax after a long road trip before you catch your flight.

Each of these spots offers a different experience depending on what you're interested in—whether that’s stunning natural landscapes, history, or a relaxing break before the flight home. They’re all accessible from your route and would make a memorable addition to your road trip.

Safe travels and enjoy your extra day exploring Montana!
