Airport transportation
Hi all! I am flying into Bradenton in a couple of weeks. I’m not renting a car this time as last time I did, I barely used it and had to pay $25/night to park at my hotel. I really just need transportation to and from Treasure Island - Bradenton. I planned to use Uber but am wondering if there are better options. Thanks in advance!
If you’re flying into Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) and heading to Treasure Island without renting a car, you have several transportation options beyond Uber. Since Treasure Island is about a 45–50 minute drive from the airport, planning ahead can save you time and possibly money.
Options for Airport to Treasure Island Transportation:
- Uber / Lyft: Both rideshare services are available at SRQ and are convenient. Fares from the airport to Treasure Island usually range from $70–$90 one way, depending on traffic and surge pricing. This is flexible, allows door-to-door service, and avoids parking fees.
- Shuttle Services / Private Car Services: Several companies offer pre-booked airport shuttles or private car services. These can be more comfortable if traveling with luggage or in a larger group. Examples include:
- Florida Shuttle Transportation – shared shuttles and private rides to the Pinellas County area.
- Go Airport Shuttle – offers private sedans or vans directly to Treasure Island hotels.
- Local taxi services – traditional taxis can be pre-booked for airport pickup; fares are typically fixed or metered, slightly higher than rideshare.
- Rental Car for a Short Stay: While you mentioned you don’t want to rent a car, sometimes renting for just a few days can be cost-effective if you plan to explore nearby beaches or St. Petersburg. Parking at Treasure Island can be pricey ($25/night at hotels), so weigh this against the convenience of rideshares.
Return Trip Considerations:
- Pre-book your shuttle or private car for the return to the airport to avoid last-minute stress, especially if flying during peak hours.
- If using Uber/Lyft, allow extra time for availability, especially on weekends or holidays.
- Shared shuttles may require earlier arrival times due to multiple stops along the route.
Overall, for a solo traveler or small group without a rental car, Uber or Lyft is the most convenient and flexible option. For larger parties or more luggage, a pre-booked private shuttle or car service may be more comfortable and equally reliable.
