Which hotel?

We have narrowed our search down to two hotels in Chicago to stay the first of May. We are coming to Chicago to watch the Astros play the White Sox.

Swissotel or the Westin??

If anyone has any experience with either or any suggestions it would be appreciated!

Thank you.

Both the Swissotel and the Westin are great hotel options in Chicago, but they each offer a different vibe and experience. Below are the key points about both hotels to help you decide which one fits your needs for the trip to watch the Astros play the White Sox.

Swissotel Chicago:

Swissotel is a luxury hotel located in the heart of downtown Chicago, offering stunning views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. It's known for its modern amenities, spacious rooms, and great location for tourists who want to explore the city. Here are some key aspects to consider:

  • Location: Swissotel is located near the Chicago River and is just a short walk from Millennium Park, Navy Pier, and many top attractions. It’s also relatively easy to get to the White Sox stadium (Guaranteed Rate Field), though you’ll need to take public transport or drive.
  • Facilities: The hotel has a fitness center, indoor pool, and a variety of dining options. It’s a great option for those who want a comfortable, upscale stay with excellent amenities.
  • Views: If you enjoy beautiful views, Swissotel is a great choice. Many rooms offer panoramic views of Lake Michigan or the city skyline.
  • Price: Swissotel tends to be on the more expensive side, especially during peak tourist seasons, but it offers excellent value for the luxury experience.

Westin Chicago River North:

The Westin Chicago River North is another great option, located just slightly to the west of the Swissotel, along the Chicago River. It's a great choice if you want to be close to both the city's attractions and dining options. Some key features of the Westin:

  • Location: The Westin is located in a fantastic spot along the Chicago River, offering easy access to the Magnificent Mile, the Riverwalk, and restaurants. It's a bit farther from the White Sox stadium (about a 15-20 minute drive), but it is centrally located for exploring other parts of Chicago.
  • Facilities: The Westin offers a well-known Heavenly Bed for a great night's sleep, fitness center, and the option to rent bikes for exploring the city. The hotel also has a stylish bar and restaurant, perfect for unwinding after a day of sightseeing or watching the game.
  • Atmosphere: The Westin has a more relaxed, modern atmosphere compared to the Swissotel. It’s a good choice for those who want a comfortable and convenient stay with a bit of a laid-back vibe.
  • Price: Similar to the Swissotel, the Westin can be pricey depending on the time of year, but it’s often a bit more affordable for comparable amenities and location.

Final Thoughts:

If you're looking for a more luxurious experience with amazing views and a central location near many major attractions, the Swissotel might be the better choice. However, if you prefer a slightly more laid-back vibe with easy access to Chicago's Riverwalk and great dining options, the Westin could be the better fit.

Both hotels offer excellent service and comfortable amenities, so it ultimately comes down to your personal preferences. Since you’re in town to watch the Astros, remember that while both hotels are fairly close to the stadium, you might want to consider the Westin for its closer proximity to dining and other attractions in downtown Chicago.
