One 11 Hotel, nice area to stay??

Hi….We are super excited for this upcoming weekend stay. This will be my first NOLA adventure. We just learned that this hotel is near the train tracks and possibly noisy from the sounds of trains. Can anyone advise on this area. We had done so much research and hoping to learn from anyone who is a local. Its a family trip, trying to provide my mother with some peace that we did find a great hotel and all will be awesome.

Thank you for any insight and honesty. ;-)

It sounds like you're getting ready for an exciting trip to New Orleans! The One 11 Hotel is located in the Warehouse District, which is a great area to stay in, especially for first-time visitors. It’s close to many of the city’s attractions, including the National WWII Museum, the French Quarter, and some fantastic dining options. It’s a lively neighborhood with a mix of modern developments and historic buildings, but let’s talk about the train noise concern you're bringing up.

The area around One 11 Hotel, like many parts of New Orleans, is near train tracks, and it's true that some guests have reported hearing train noises at night. However, noise levels can vary depending on your room location within the hotel, as well as the time of day. New Orleans does have some active train traffic, especially near industrial and waterfront areas, but the noise may not always be constant or disruptive, particularly if you're used to some urban noise. Many hotels in New Orleans, especially those in the Warehouse and Arts District, can have some exposure to noise, so it’s worth considering the proximity of the tracks.

If you're concerned about noise, here are a few tips to help ensure a more peaceful stay:

  • Request a room on the opposite side of the hotel: When booking or checking in, ask for a room away from the train tracks. Some rooms may be quieter, especially those that face away from the industrial areas.
  • Consider earplugs: If you’re sensitive to noise, you can bring earplugs or even ask the hotel for a pair to help block out any sounds from the outside. Many guests report that the train noise is not very frequent or disruptive once you're inside your room.
  • Check for quieter room options: It may be worth asking the hotel directly if they have rooms specifically noted for being quieter or if they can accommodate requests for noise-free zones.

Overall, the Warehouse District is a wonderful area to stay in, especially if you're looking to be close to museums, dining, and nightlife, but it's important to be aware of the potential noise from the nearby tracks. If you're still unsure, it may be worth calling the hotel ahead of time to confirm your room's location and inquire further about the noise level. The hotel is also just a short ride to the more bustling parts of the city, like the French Quarter, so you'll have easy access to all the action without being in the heart of the crowd.

Rest assured, New Orleans has a lot to offer, and I’m sure you’ll have a fantastic time. With a bit of planning, you'll be able to make the most of your family trip!
