June Visit B & O museum
Hello All,
Looking forward to a couple of nights in Baltimore during our summer trip. We will be in town to see a game at Camden yards, and am looking forward to seeing what else the area has to offer. Thank you for all the tips I have found on this form in building our itinerary. One of the things we are interested in is the B&O museum. We will be in town on Monday-Wednesday. We were going to go on Monday, but realize the train ride does not happen on Mondays. Since our timing has us there on the 2nd Wednesday, thought we would move it to that day. However, I have a logistical problem, with our timing. We would have enough time, if we could bring our luggage with us to the museum, but I am not able to determine if there is anywhere at the museum to store luggage. Does anyone know if this is possible of if there is anywhere to store it close by? Thanks for your help.
It sounds like you're in for a fun trip to Baltimore, and visiting the B&O Railroad Museum is a great choice! It's a fascinating spot, especially for train enthusiasts, with its impressive collection of trains and historical exhibits. Let me address your logistical question about luggage storage during your visit to the museum.
Luggage Storage at the B&O Museum: Unfortunately, the B&O Railroad Museum does not have any official luggage storage facilities for visitors. Since you’re looking to visit the museum on a Wednesday and will have luggage with you, here are a few options to consider:
- Baltimore Penn Station: Baltimore's Penn Station, which is relatively close to the museum, offers a luggage storage service called BagBnB. This service allows you to drop off your bags at a nearby location for a small fee. It’s a convenient option, especially if you're looking to leave your luggage somewhere secure while you explore.
- Local Hotels: If you're staying in a hotel nearby, most hotels will allow you to store your luggage even if you've already checked out. It's worth calling ahead to ask if they offer luggage storage services for non-staying guests. Hotels near Camden Yards or in the downtown area may be your best bet.
- Airbnb or Vacation Rentals: If you're using Airbnb, some hosts may be willing to store luggage if you ask in advance. Even if it’s not part of the standard offering, it doesn’t hurt to ask, especially if you're staying nearby.
- Luggage Storage Services: There are also third-party luggage storage services such as LuggageHero or Stasher, which allow you to store your bags at designated locations in the city. You can check their websites to see if they have any options near the museum or downtown Baltimore.
Additional Tips: Since you'll be in town for a few days and want to make the most of your time, here are some nearby attractions you might consider checking out after your visit to the B&O Museum:
- Camden Yards: Since you’re attending a game at Camden Yards, be sure to explore the area around the ballpark. The Oriole Park area offers plenty of restaurants and bars, so you can enjoy a bite before or after the game.
- Inner Harbor: The Inner Harbor area is a short distance from the museum and is home to attractions like the National Aquarium, the Maryland Science Center, and the Harborplace shopping center. It’s a beautiful area to walk around, with great views of the water.
- Fort McHenry: If you have extra time and enjoy history, a visit to Fort McHenry National Monument is a must. It's where the inspiration for the "Star-Spangled Banner" came from and is an important piece of American history.
I hope this helps with your trip planning and luggage storage! Enjoy your time in Baltimore, and I’m sure the B&O Railroad Museum will be a memorable experience. Let me know if you need further tips or recommendations!
