Traveling with toddlers in April and read there is a playground in Forsyth Park for younger kids. Anyone know exactly where is Forsyth Park, where would be the best place to enter the park?
Also, wanted to do brunch at Colin’s Quarter in Forsyth Park. Anyone know where this is in the park?
Lastly, wanted to do the River walk with toddlers for an early dinner. Is this a family-friendly environment around 4-6 pm? We have plenty of adults and things to keep the toddlers occupied. Any restaurants/rooftops/dinner place recommendations would be appreciated.
THANK YOU!
It sounds like you have a wonderful trip planned with toddlers! Savannah is a great destination for families, and Forsyth Park, along with the River Walk, offers plenty of space for kids to enjoy. Here are some answers to your questions:
1. Forsyth Park (Playground and Park Entrance):
Forsyth Park is located in the historic district of Savannah and is a popular spot for families with children. The park spans about 30 acres and has plenty of open space for little ones to run around. The playground is located near the north end of the park, close to the iconic Forsyth Fountain, which is a great photo op for families!
The main entrance to Forsyth Park is located at the corner of Abercorn Street and Gaston Street. From this entrance, you’ll easily find the playground on your left. It's well-maintained, with swings, slides, and areas suitable for toddlers to play safely. The park itself is stroller-friendly, so you’ll have no trouble getting around with your toddlers in tow.
2. Colin’s Quarter (Brunch in Forsyth Park):
Colin’s Quarter is a wonderful spot for brunch and is located just across from the southern entrance of Forsyth Park, on Abercorn Street. It’s a short walk from the fountain and playground, making it an easy and convenient option for brunch with kids. The atmosphere is relaxed, and they offer a variety of Southern-inspired dishes, including some kid-friendly options. It’s a great place to enjoy a meal and relax before heading back to the park to let the kids play some more.
3. River Walk with Toddlers (Family-Friendly Dinner Environment):
The River Walk in Savannah is a lovely area to explore, with beautiful views of the Savannah River and plenty of shops, galleries, and restaurants. In the late afternoon (4-6 pm), the area is typically family-friendly, especially as the crowds start to thin out a bit. It’s not overly busy at that time, so you’ll have a more peaceful experience walking along the river with toddlers. The River Walk is pedestrian-friendly, so it’s easy to navigate with strollers.
