Ke’e beach

If I do not intend to hike to the other areas or go snorkeling, is Ke’ke beach still worth the visit? I am not comfortable crossing rocky streams, is there any scenery I could enjoy hiking up to that point? I am also looking at Pali Ke Kua beach (Hide away). Would that beach be just as interesting if not more for just enjoying the beach?

Ke’e Beach is located at the end of the road in Haena State Park and is often considered the starting point for the Kalalau Trail along the Napali Coast. Even if you do not intend to hike further or snorkel, it can still be worth a visit, especially for its scenery and calm, shallow waters near the shore.

For those not comfortable with rocky stream crossings, here’s what to consider:

  • You do not need to cross streams to reach the main beach area. The beach itself is accessible and has a beautiful view of the Napali cliffs rising dramatically from the coastline.
  • There are gentle walking paths and lookout points near the parking area that allow you to enjoy scenic vistas without extensive hiking.
  • Sunsets and early morning light can be particularly stunning from Ke’e Beach, even if you stay close to the shore.

Regarding Pali Ke Kua Beach, also known as Hideaway Beach:

  • This beach is smaller and more secluded, accessible via a steep trail. If you’re comfortable with a short but somewhat challenging descent, it is ideal for privacy, snorkeling, and swimming.
  • It does not offer the same dramatic Napali Coast backdrop as Ke’e Beach, so in terms of scenery and iconic views, Ke’e might be more impressive.
  • For simply relaxing and enjoying a quieter beach without hiking or snorkeling, Pali Ke Kua is excellent, but it may require more careful access due to the steep trail.

Summary: If your main goal is iconic scenery and an easy, accessible beach, Ke’e Beach is worth a visit even without hiking or snorkeling. If you prefer a more private, tucked-away beach experience and are okay with a short, steep trail, Pali Ke Kua offers seclusion but less dramatic coastal views.
