Live music mid-week Uptown?

My husband and I will be in New Orleans June 10-15, celebrating our 25th anniversary. We’re staying near Audubon Park for 3 nts, then moving to the Marigny for the rest of our stay. There’s some well-known music venues uptown like Tipitina’s and the Maple Leaf, but their posted calendars mostly show stuff on the weekends. Anyone out there know where we might go to hear some good music while we’re staying in the area? It’ll be Tuesday-Fri. Appreciate any guidance…

First off, congratulations on your 25th anniversary! New Orleans is the perfect place to celebrate, especially with its rich music scene. While the weekends tend to be busy at well-known venues like Tipitina’s and the Maple Leaf, there are still plenty of great options for mid-week live music in the Uptown area. Here are some suggestions for live music during your stay:

1. The Carriage House

Located on Magazine Street, The Carriage House offers a cozy atmosphere with live jazz performances throughout the week. While they typically focus on more laid-back performances, you can often catch local jazz musicians or small bands on Tuesday through Friday nights. It's a great spot for dinner with music in a relaxed environment.

2. The Circle Bar

Just off Magazine Street, The Circle Bar is an intimate venue with great local acts, offering live music mid-week. It’s known for its diverse selection of music genres, including jazz, blues, and rock. It's a relaxed place to enjoy some drinks and catch a variety of local talent.

3. The Maple Leaf Bar

Though known for its weekend lineups, The Maple Leaf often has live music throughout the week. If you’re lucky, they may have mid-week performances—especially jazz, blues, or funk. It’s a great Uptown venue for a lively night out with fantastic acoustics and a fun crowd.

4. Le Bon Temps Roule

Located on Magazine Street, Le Bon Temps Roule is a classic neighborhood bar known for its great live music and vibrant atmosphere. They often feature live jazz, rock, and blues performances during the week. It's a fantastic spot to grab a drink and enjoy some excellent local music without the weekend crowds.

5. The Ogden Museum of Southern Art

The Ogden Museum often hosts live music events throughout the week as part of their "Ogden After Hours" series. These events usually feature local jazz bands and other southern music genres. If you enjoy a more cultural experience with a laid-back vibe, this is an excellent option for mid-week music and an art experience.

6. Cooter Brown’s Tavern

Known for its laid-back atmosphere and live music, Cooter Brown's is another great Uptown venue. Though they are more known for their sports bar vibe, they regularly feature live performances, especially blues, rock, and country bands. It’s a good choice for an informal night of music and drinks.

7. The Spotted Cat Music Club (In Marigny - close to your second stay)

Although it’s not Uptown, since you’ll be moving to the Marigny, The Spotted Cat Music Club is a must-visit. It’s one of the most iconic venues in the city for jazz and swing music. This intimate venue usually has live music every day, including during the week, and is perfect for experiencing the heart of New Orleans' music scene.

8. The Jazz Playhouse (Royal Sonesta Hotel)

If you want to stay in the Uptown area but enjoy something more refined, The Jazz Playhouse in the Royal Sonesta Hotel (in the French Quarter but worth the short ride) features nightly live jazz performances, often with world-class musicians. It’s an elegant yet comfortable setting for a special night out.

Final Tip: It’s always a good idea to check the schedules of these venues online or by calling ahead to confirm their mid-week music lineup, as performances can sometimes change or be rescheduled. Many of these spots also have great food, so you can enjoy a nice dinner while listening to live tunes!

With these options, you're sure to find some fantastic music to enjoy during your stay. Enjoy your anniversary celebration and the amazing music New Orleans has to offer!
