Hi all,
Looking to stay in Streeterville area with my grandson in a few weeks (over the weekend). I remember seeing on the news a few weeks ago that Streeterville was having some repeat problems with very large groups of teens and some violence. Has this been resolved or is it ongoing? Since I'm with my grandson, I want to make sure we are not going to be in the middle of something unsafe. Thanks!!
Streeterville is generally considered a safe and desirable area in Chicago, especially for tourists, with its proximity to major attractions like Navy Pier, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Magnificent Mile. That being said, like any urban area, Streeterville has experienced some issues in the past, including occasional reports of large groups of teens causing disturbances, particularly in public areas. However, it’s important to note that these incidents are usually isolated and have been addressed by local law enforcement through increased patrols and other safety measures.
As of now, the situation has improved significantly, and there is no widespread concern about safety in the Streeterville area for visitors. Many families, including those with children, visit the area regularly without issue. That said, it's always a good idea to stay informed and exercise caution in any city. Here are some tips for staying safe:
If you're planning to visit Streeterville with your grandson, you'll likely have a wonderful experience, as it's home to many family-friendly attractions. If you're concerned about safety or want to avoid any potential disturbances, you can always contact the hotel or accommodations you're staying at to inquire about recent safety measures in the area. Most hotels in Streeterville are used to hosting families and can provide helpful advice on staying safe and enjoying your visit.
Overall, while it’s good to be aware of your surroundings, Streeterville remains one of the most popular and visited areas in Chicago, and concerns about safety are not widespread. Have a great trip!
