Restaurant for a birthday dinner

I'm coming to Orlando, staying in Cabana Bay, in September (6th till 20th if that makes a difference). If it helps there will be 6 of us, 3 adults in their 30s, 2 adults in their 60s and my 9yr old son.

Its my birthday while im out there so was hoping to go out for a birthday meal, maybe to a steak restaurant but open to other ideas. Cant do a solely seafood restaurant due to my father not eating anything fish related :(

Any recommendations for a decent restaurant - hard rock is the current idea, so suggestions in that sort of price range would be ideal. There are so many restaurants online but you cant really tell from a website what they are like.

Orlando has a wide range of restaurants suitable for a birthday dinner with a group like yours, offering steaks, classic American fare, and fun atmospheres. Since you are staying at Cabana Bay and are considering something in the Hard Rock price range, here are some great options to consider.

Steakhouse options with lively or classic ambiance:

  • Vito’s Chop House: Upscale steakhouse with high-quality cuts, seafood options for those who eat it, and a refined yet comfortable atmosphere. Perfect for a celebratory meal.
  • Ruth’s Chris Steak House: Classic steakhouse experience with consistently good steaks and service. They have options for all ages and dietary preferences.
  • Charley’s Steak House (Dr. Phillips area): Known for generous portions and a warm, friendly vibe. Great for families and birthday celebrations.

Other fun alternatives with broad appeal:

  • Hard Rock Cafe Orlando: As you mentioned, it has a fun, lively environment and consistent menu options, including steaks, burgers, and other hearty dishes. Good for a birthday celebration without being overly formal.
  • Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen: Unique steampunk-themed restaurant in Universal CityWalk. Offers a range of main dishes, including steaks, and an extensive dessert menu perfect for birthday celebrations.
  • Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food: For something festive and flavorful, this vibrant spot has tables for large groups and a fun atmosphere. While not a steakhouse, it is casual upscale and a birthday-friendly experience.

Tips for planning your birthday dinner:

  • Make reservations well in advance, especially for a group of six in September, as weekends and holiday periods can book up quickly.
  • If you want a slightly quieter environment, consider weekdays rather than weekends, or request a table away from the main crowd.
  • Many restaurants offer birthday perks such as complimentary dessert or a small celebration, so mention it when booking.

Overall, if you want a lively birthday dinner, Hard Rock Cafe is a solid choice. If you prefer something more upscale and classic with excellent steak options, Vito’s Chop House or Ruth’s Chris would provide a memorable experience for your family.
