Late october anniversary trip
My wife are doing a cruise from Port Canaveral in late october. We are wanting to spend a few days in st. Augustin for a few days before the cruise. How are things in late october close or open. And busy or not busy. Thanks
Visiting St. Augustine in late October is a great choice for an anniversary trip. The weather is usually very pleasant, with daytime highs in the low to mid 70s–80s °F and cooler evenings. Humidity is lower than in the summer months, and the peak tourist crowds of summer have started to taper off, making it easier to enjoy the city’s historic sites and attractions without long waits.
Regarding attractions and businesses:
- Most museums, historic sites, and attractions such as Castillo de San Marcos, St. Augustine Lighthouse, and the Colonial Quarter are open year-round, including October.
- Many restaurants, shops, and cafes in the historic district remain fully operational in October, and some may even offer seasonal specials for the fall.
- Seasonal events like ghost tours, Halloween-themed activities, and some local festivals begin in late October, which can add a festive atmosphere without overwhelming crowds.
In terms of crowd levels and traffic:
- Late October is considered off-peak compared to summer and spring break, so hotel rates may be lower, and parking and street traffic are easier to manage.
- Tourist areas like St. George Street can still have moderate activity, especially on weekends, but it’s generally far less crowded than the height of summer.
- Plan ahead for popular dining spots if you want to have a special anniversary dinner, as some places may require reservations even in October.
Overall, late October is an ideal time to experience St. Augustine. You’ll enjoy mild weather, manageable crowds, and open attractions, along with a slightly festive fall atmosphere that can make your anniversary trip feel extra special.
