4days trip to Miami with two 18+ boys
Hi, we have an upcoming trip to Miami for 4 full days. We will land around 11am and depart around 8pm in 4 days.We would be staying on Collins Ave. We have two 18+ boys who want to enjoy a few water sports. I don’t have an itinerary in mind. Any recommendations for a 4 day itinerary? Also, would it be a good decision to rent a car? Thank you in advance!!
Miami offers a great mix of beach fun, water sports, cultural spots, and vibrant nightlife that your two 18+ boys will likely enjoy. Staying on Collins Ave gives you easy access to South Beach, shops, restaurants, and rental options for water activities. Renting a car is optional but can be helpful if you want to explore areas outside South Beach such as Coconut Grove, Wynwood, or Key Biscayne. Keep in mind parking in South Beach can be expensive and limited, so for local beach and nightlife, rideshare may be more convenient.
Here’s a suggested 4-day itinerary:
- Day 1 – Arrival and South Beach: Land around 11am, check-in, grab lunch nearby. Spend the afternoon exploring South Beach, walking along Ocean Drive, and enjoying the beach. Rent jet skis or try parasailing in the late afternoon for some adrenaline fun. Dinner at a casual spot like Big Pink or Yardbird.
- Day 2 – Water Sports & Bayside: Morning: Book a half-day boat tour, jet ski rental, or flyboarding session for the boys. Afternoon: Head to Bayside Marketplace for shopping and lunch. Consider renting paddleboards or kayaks in Biscayne Bay. Evening: Sunset at South Pointe Park, followed by dinner at one of the waterfront restaurants.
- Day 3 – Culture & Art: Morning: Visit Wynwood Walls for street art and murals. Grab lunch at a Wynwood café. Afternoon: Explore Little Havana – try Cuban coffee, walk along Calle Ocho, and enjoy local pastries. Evening: Return to South Beach for dinner and perhaps some live music or casual nightlife.
- Day 4 – Key Biscayne & Departure: Morning: Drive (or rideshare) to Key Biscayne for a more relaxed beach day or rent kayaks to explore the coastline. Lunch on the island or back near Collins Ave. Afternoon: If time allows, check out the Art Deco Historic District on a short walking tour. Head to the airport around 5–6pm to return your car if rented and account for traffic and check-in times.
Additional tips:
- Consider booking water sports activities in advance, especially jet skis, parasailing, or boat rentals.
- Uber or Lyft can often be more convenient than driving in South Beach due to limited parking.
- Carry cash for small vendors, tips, and parking meters.
- For meals, South Beach has many options from casual beachside eateries to upscale restaurants. Try some Cuban cuisine and fresh seafood.
- Sun protection is essential: sunscreen, hats, and water are a must while spending time outdoors.
This itinerary balances relaxation, adventure, and cultural exploration. Your boys will enjoy water sports while still experiencing the vibrant Miami atmosphere, and you’ll have a manageable plan for 4 days without feeling rushed.
