Nonalcoholic drinks

Don't hate me, but can you get good nonalcoholic drinks at bars here. I have kidney disease and no gallbladder so it makes me sick. Help a lady out on where to find some. Thank you!

Don't worry, you're not alone in looking for great non-alcoholic drinks! The Florida Keys, including Key West, are very accommodating to all kinds of dietary needs, and many bars and restaurants offer tasty non-alcoholic options. Here are a few suggestions for where to find refreshing, alcohol-free beverages:

1. Local Bars and Restaurants with Non-Alcoholic Options:

Many bars in Key West are aware of the need for non-alcoholic alternatives and will often offer creative mocktails (non-alcoholic cocktails), fresh juices, and sparkling waters. It’s always worth asking the bartender for a "mocktail" menu or to make you a drink based on what you like (e.g., fruit-based, herbal, or sparkling). Here are some great places to try:

  • Bliss Restaurant & Wine Bar: Known for accommodating dietary preferences, they offer fresh fruit mocktails and sparkling drinks.
  • The Green Parrot Bar: A laid-back spot where bartenders can whip up refreshing non-alcoholic drinks with fruit juices and sodas.
  • Key West Historic Seaport: Some of the bars around the harbor offer fruit-based mocktails and flavored sodas. It’s a great place to sit back and enjoy the view with a refreshing drink.
  • Hog’s Breath Saloon: Though known for their cocktails, they also offer non-alcoholic options like iced teas and sodas, and sometimes they’ll create mocktails on request.

2. Fresh Juices and Smoothies:

Key West has many places where you can enjoy fresh juices, smoothies, and other refreshing beverages. These are especially good options if you’re looking to stay hydrated and keep your health in check:

  • The Juice Bar: A great spot for freshly made juices and smoothies with tropical fruit like mango, pineapple, and coconut. They also make non-dairy smoothies!
  • Havana Cabana: Known for their Cuban-inspired drinks, they also offer a selection of fresh juices and mocktails.
  • Southernmost Smoothie: Located near the Southernmost Point in Key West, they offer a variety of delicious, fresh smoothies that are both healthy and hydrating.

3. Soda Water with Fresh Fruit:

If you're looking for something light and easy, soda water with fresh fruit (like lime, lemon, or even cucumber) can be a refreshing choice. Many places will offer this as a simple but satisfying option.

4. Water Bars or Coconut Water:

Look for places that serve coconut water or have a focus on hydration. Coconut water is naturally hydrating and easy on the stomach, making it a good choice for anyone with specific dietary needs.

5. Coffee Shops and Cafes:

Coffee shops in Key West often have delicious iced coffees, herbal teas, and caffeine-free beverages. These can be great alternatives to traditional bar drinks, and you can often ask for a custom creation if you're feeling adventurous.

Overall, Key West is a welcoming place for all kinds of dietary needs, and there are plenty of places where you can enjoy a refreshing drink without alcohol. Don't hesitate to ask the staff to customize a drink based on your preferences—they're usually happy to accommodate! Enjoy your time in Key West!
