Baseball

We are currently in Orlando until 17th and then move to Naples until 21st August. My son would love to go to the Baseball if anyone can help/point me in the right direction! Thank you

It’s great that your son is interested in baseball! Orlando and Naples both have some options for catching a game or enjoying the baseball atmosphere during your stay. Here's a guide to help you find a game or experience in both areas:

Orlando (until the 17th): While Orlando doesn’t have a Major League Baseball team, you can still catch a game at some local venues or nearby spring training games, depending on the time of year.

  • Orlando Apollos (AAF Team - seasonal): While the Apollos were a football team, Orlando does have various minor league baseball teams that sometimes play at the Amway Center or other local venues. Be sure to check if there are any games or events happening during your visit.
  • Minor League Baseball (Triple-A or Single-A teams): The Orlando Sports Complex sometimes hosts smaller league baseball games. While the schedule for these teams can vary, checking local listings or sports websites could give you an idea of any games happening in Orlando.
  • Spring Training (March to April): If you’re in Orlando during spring training (before the 17th), the Detroit Tigers play at Champion Stadium in Disney’s Wide World of Sports complex. You may want to check if there are any games or events in the area.

Naples (17th-21st August): Naples is located closer to the Gulf Coast, and while it doesn’t have any Major League Baseball teams, it offers some good options for minor league games and baseball experiences.

  • Fort Myers (Nearby): The Fort Myers Miracle (a minor league team) plays at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers, which is about a 45-minute drive from Naples. They’re part of the Minnesota Twins organization and play through August. If you’re willing to make the drive, this is a great option for a family-friendly baseball experience.
  • Spring Training (February-March): While outside your timeframe, it’s worth noting that Fort Myers also hosts spring training for teams like the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins, so if you're in the area next year, this might be another option.

If you're willing to drive a little outside of both Orlando and Naples, these are great alternatives for watching some baseball. In the meantime, you can check local listings, websites, or your hotel concierge for up-to-date game schedules. Enjoy your baseball adventures!
