Daxing Airport express

Hello,

I notice on a metro map the Daxing Airport express, from Caoqiao to Daxing Airport.

This appears to be new. Has anyone used it? Any pointers?

Thanks

Bruce

The Daxing Airport Express is a relatively new metro line in Beijing, designed to provide fast and convenient access to Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX). It connects the airport with Caoqiao Station on Line 10, offering travelers a smooth transfer between the airport and the city metro network.

Here are some key points and tips for using the Daxing Airport Express:

  • Travel Time: The journey from Caoqiao to Daxing Airport takes around 20–25 minutes, making it a very fast option compared to buses or taxis, especially during peak traffic hours.
  • Operating Hours: The line generally starts early in the morning around 6:00 AM and runs until approximately 11:00 PM. Check the latest schedules as times can vary slightly.
  • Ticketing: Tickets can be purchased at the station or using Beijing’s mobile transit apps. The fare from Caoqiao to the airport is fixed and affordable, typically around 25–30 RMB.
  • Transfers: At Caoqiao, you can transfer to Line 10, which connects to many parts of central Beijing. Other metro connections at the airport are currently limited, so plan accordingly if you are heading deeper into the city.
  • Luggage Considerations: The trains are designed to accommodate passengers with luggage, but during peak travel times, space may be limited. Try to travel during off-peak hours if possible for a more comfortable ride.
  • Signage and Announcements: Stations and trains have clear signage in both Chinese and English. Announcements for each stop are made in both languages, which helps international travelers.
  • Alternatives: While the Airport Express is convenient, you can also consider taxis, airport shuttle buses, or ride-hailing apps if your origin or destination is not close to Caoqiao Station.

Additional tips for a smooth experience:

  • Arrive at the station at least 30–40 minutes before your flight to account for ticket purchase and security checks.
  • If traveling with elderly family members or heavy luggage, consider booking a taxi directly to the airport if convenience is prioritized over cost.
  • Check online for real-time train schedules, especially during holidays or special events, as the frequency may change.

Overall, the Daxing Airport Express is a modern, reliable, and efficient way to reach Beijing Daxing International Airport, particularly useful for travelers connecting from central Beijing or Line 10.
