Where to spend 4 nights in Orlando

Recommendations please. I'm arriving in Orlando and spending 4 nights there before getting the train down to Fort Lauderdale. Not interested in theme park rides but want to enjoy the area. Don't want to do lots of travelling as will be doing that later the same week. What hotel would you recommend that isn't too expensive, ie around £100 per night or cheaper with good facilities for non-drivers, close enough to airport so doesn't cost us a fortune in an Uber, but close enough to get Uber to attractions and places to eat in easy walking distance.

Thanks

For your 4-night stay in Orlando, there are a number of great options that allow you to enjoy the area without spending too much time or money on transportation. Since you’re not interested in theme parks and prefer staying close to places to eat, attractions, and the airport, here are some recommendations for hotels that fit your budget and preferences:

1. Disney Springs Area (Lake Buena Vista):

While not directly in the theme park area, Disney Springs offers a lively, walkable environment with great dining, shopping, and entertainment. It’s also relatively close to the airport and other attractions, and you can easily get an Uber to nearby spots. Here are a couple of budget-friendly hotels in the area:

  • Holiday Inn Orlando - Disney Springs Area: A great option close to Disney Springs with free shuttles to the theme parks, though you’re not focused on the parks, the hotel is a short ride from downtown Orlando. The hotel offers a pool, fitness center, and dining options, and is within walking distance to numerous restaurants and shops in Disney Springs.
  • Four Points by Sheraton Orlando International Drive: Located near the convention center and International Drive, this hotel is well-positioned for access to restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. It's also close to the airport and offers a shuttle to Disney Springs. The property offers a pool and free Wi-Fi, making it a good choice for non-drivers.

2. International Drive Area:

International Drive is a central location with plenty of restaurants, shopping, and attractions like ICON Park, the Wheel, and Ripley's Believe It or Not. It’s a vibrant area, and you'll find a range of accommodations that are convenient for visitors without a car.

  • Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando: This is an affordable option located in the heart of International Drive. It's close to the convention center, dining, and entertainment options. The hotel provides free shuttle service to Universal Studios and offers great amenities like an outdoor pool and on-site restaurant. It's a budget-friendly option with easy access to Ubers and taxis.
  • Hyatt Place Orlando / I-Drive / Convention Center: Located along International Drive, this hotel offers spacious rooms, free breakfast, and a great location for walking to nearby restaurants and attractions. It’s a short Uber ride to the airport and easy access to other parts of Orlando.

3. Downtown Orlando:

If you’re looking for a more urban experience with easy access to dining, bars, and cultural attractions, staying in Downtown Orlando might be a good option. The area is well-served by public transport and Ubers, and you can explore museums, parks, and local eateries. Here are a couple of budget-friendly hotels:

  • Hampton Inn & Suites Orlando/Downtown South: Located near Lake Eola and within walking distance of downtown restaurants and bars, this hotel offers a great base for exploring without a car. It includes free breakfast and an outdoor pool. Plus, the airport is only a short drive away.
  • The Eo Inn & Lounge: A boutique hotel located near Lake Eola, offering a unique stay in a more local, non-touristy area. It’s a short walk to cafes and restaurants, and you can take Ubers to nearby attractions or the airport. It's a good option for a quieter stay but still close to the action.

4. Near Orlando International Airport:

If you're looking to stay close to the airport for convenience, there are several hotels nearby that offer good access to transportation and are still close to restaurants and entertainment. Some options include:

  • La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Orlando Airport North: A budget-friendly option just minutes from the airport with free breakfast and shuttle service to the airport. While not located in a tourist area, it’s still a short Uber ride to local attractions, and the hotel offers comfortable, spacious rooms.
  • Comfort Suites Orlando Airport: Another good option close to the airport, offering free shuttle service, breakfast, and an outdoor pool. It's also close to restaurants and the Airport Business District, making it a convenient choice for a short stay.

Each of these locations is close enough to Orlando's key attractions and the airport to make transportation easy without the need for a car. For the best experience, look for hotels with shuttle services or good Uber accessibility. I recommend checking hotel deals on booking platforms to see if there are any discounts that fit your budget of around £100 per night or less.
