food style on mississippi lunch jazz cruise ?

Hi

As part of our package holiday we have a lunch time jazz cruise.Just wondering if anyone knows what the food will be like -we're vegetarians so I'm not really expecting we will be very well catered for so may have to eat beforehand!

Lunch jazz cruises on the Mississippi River in New Orleans typically offer a mix of traditional Creole and Southern-style cuisine. Since it’s a cruise experience, the menu often includes popular local dishes and may feature a buffet or plated service depending on the company. Many menus focus on seafood, chicken, and beef options, which can make vegetarian choices somewhat limited.

For vegetarians, the offerings may include:

  • Salads and fresh vegetables, often with Creole-inspired dressings.
  • Rice or pasta dishes, sometimes with vegetables or a tomato-based sauce.
  • Seasonal fruit or bread selections.

Some cruise operators can accommodate special dietary needs if notified in advance. If vegetarian options are not clearly listed in your package, it’s a good idea to contact the company ahead of time to request a vegetarian meal. Alternatively, many vegetarians choose to have a light meal beforehand to ensure they are not hungry during the cruise.

Other tips for the experience:

  • Check the menu online before your cruise; some companies post sample menus.
  • Arrive a little early to allow time to speak with staff about vegetarian options.
  • Bring small snacks if you are concerned about limited vegetarian offerings, though most cruises will allow discreet personal items.

Overall, while the main focus of a jazz lunch cruise is the music and scenery, food is generally decent but may require advance notice or preparation if you are vegetarian. The atmosphere and live jazz make it a memorable experience, even if the meal is lighter for vegetarians.
