Day room

Where can I get a day room in Maui?

We have to check out of our condo at 11 AM and cannot get a late check out. Our flight is not until 11 PM. We need to go somewhere to drop off our luggage and maybe be able to go to the pool and able to take a shower afterwards

If you need a “day room” on Maui — i.e. somewhere to stash luggage, shower/change, maybe hang out by a pool or beach before a late flight — there are several hotels/resorts that people use for exactly that. Below are a few of the most frequently recommended options (and what to check when you contact them). Because you likely will fly out from Kahului Airport (or be somewhere on Maui), I include spots that tend to work for a “last-day” plan.

Good places on Maui to get a day-use room or resort pass

  • — This hotel explicitly offers a “Day Use / Day Pass” rate that gives you a guest room from around 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, plus pool access and other amenities.
  • — According to their FAQ, they offer luggage storage if you arrive early or checkout early; you might also be able to check whether they offer a short-stay or day rate.
  • (or similar resort-style properties) — Some resorts on Maui make “day pass” or “resort-for-a-day” pool / beach + towel / lounge-chair / basic-amenity passes available (via third-party day-pass programs).

What to check / ask when you call or book

  • Whether they offer a “day-use rate,” “day pass,” or “day room” (i.e. not overnight stay, just use during daytime). Some properties call it “day pass” (pool/spa access + room or cabana), others might consider “early check-in / late checkout / luggage storage.”
  • Room access times — many “day-rooms” run roughly from morning (e.g. 9 a.m.) to late afternoon or early evening (e.g. 6 p.m.).
  • That the pass includes shower/bathroom access (so you can freshen up before your flight), towels, and somewhere to store luggage securely.
  • Whether parking is included (if you have a rental car) or if there’s a fee. Some locations may charge for parking separately.

What people on Maui traveler forums say works

  • Several travelers recommend using Maui Seaside’s day-use offer when they have morning checkout but an evening flight — “just perfect” for a last-day freshen-up and pool access.
  • Some mention that resorts or hotels may hold your bags for the day even if you’re not staying overnight, and allow use of showers, changing rooms or “hospitality suites.”
  • Others say that buying a full extra night at a condo or hotel (if feasible) sometimes costs about what a day-room/day-pass would — so that’s also an option worth considering.

My suggestions for how you might proceed

  • If you want to stay near the airport (for convenience before your flight), contact Maui Seaside Hotel first — their day-use offer seems designed for exactly what you describe.
  • If you want a more resort-style “hotel day” experience (pool or even beach access) — check whether The Westin Maui (or other large resorts) offer day passes via a day-pass program. Could be more expensive, but a way to enjoy a pool & shower before your flight.
  • If you prefer convenience and simplicity — ask your current condo host whether a late checkout, luggage-hold, or extended use of facilities is possible (some people on forums report success this way when no next guest is scheduled).

A few caveats / things to double-check

  • “Day-room” rates or “day-pass” availability can vary wildly depending on season, hotel occupancy, and resort policies. It’s best to call directly rather than assume availability.
  • Resort-for-a-day amenities (e.g. pools, towels, showers) may come with extra fees (towel service, parking, resort fees, etc.).
  • If your existing place is a privately rented condo or vacation-rental, they may not offer late checkout or luggage-hold — so plan ahead.

In short — yes, you *can* get a day room or day-use pass in Maui, and places like Maui Seaside Hotel and Maui Beach Hotel (in Kahului) are among the most commonly recommended, especially if you want convenience before a late flight. If you’re okay with a splurge or resort-style pass, looking into large resorts via day-pass providers may also work. Finally — if your condo owner is flexible, asking for late checkout or basic luggage-hold + facility access can be a simple alternative.
