How does the weather feel today?

I’m coming in Saturday and it’s rainy. Does it feel cool enough for a sweater, or more Indian summer, short sleeve? Thanks

The weather in Chicago today is cold — around freezing (32 °F / 0 °C) with snow and flurries in parts, and likely cloudy or overcast through much of the day.

With those conditions, it will definitely feel *wintry*, not like a mild “Indian summer.” Expect it to feel chilly, especially if there’s any wind or dampness from snow. Outdoor surfaces might also be slick if snow accumulates — something to keep in mind when walking around the city.

What to wear if you visit today

  • A warm coat or insulated jacket — something wind- and water-resistant if possible.
  • Layers underneath: long-sleeve shirt or sweater, maybe a light fleece or thermal layer.
  • Hat, gloves, scarf — to stay warm when outside, especially if you’re walking near the river or in open areas where wind picks up.
  • Comfortable, weather-resistant shoes or boots — ideally with good traction in case the sidewalks are snowy or slushy. Avoid thin-soled shoes that might be slippery.
  • A waterproof or water-resistant outer layer (coat or jacket) — in case of snow or light rain, to stay dry and warm.

If you were expecting more mild fall weather you might be surprised — today feels much more like early winter. So plan accordingly, and maybe pack a cozy sweater but treat this as a cold-weather day rather than a mild, “nice fall” day.
