Hello and thank you in advance,
I will be in Chicago Jan 15-20 to enjoy the City. Museums, Blues and food!!
From what I can see, these two hotels are closest to where we want to be is that correct? EA hotel in under $100 a night. If there is something better for a bit more I can swing it!!
Thank you!!
It sounds like you're planning a great trip to Chicago! Both the Congress Plaza Hotel and River Hotel are located in central Chicago and are relatively close to major attractions such as museums, restaurants, and music venues. Here's a detailed breakdown of each hotel, as well as some other recommendations to help you make an informed decision:
Congress Plaza Hotel:
The Congress Plaza Hotel is a historic hotel located right across from Grant Park, which is a great location for access to museums (like the Art Institute of Chicago) and the lakefront. It's a classic Chicago hotel with a long history and grand architecture. This hotel is a bit older, so while it offers a traditional experience, it may feel a bit dated in some areas. The location is excellent for sightseeing, especially if you're planning to visit the museums or take a walk along Lake Michigan. It’s also relatively affordable, especially if you're able to book a deal. However, keep in mind that it may not offer the same level of modern amenities or luxury as newer hotels. Still, it's a solid option for a budget-friendly stay.
River Hotel:
The River Hotel is a more modern property located near the Chicago River in the downtown area. It's within walking distance to the Magnificent Mile, Millennium Park, and many of the city's top attractions, including the museums and theaters. The River Hotel tends to offer a more contemporary atmosphere with clean, modern rooms and updated amenities. The location is great for those who want to be close to shopping and dining, and you can easily walk to places like the Chicago Riverwalk or take a short trip to the museum campus. It may be a bit pricier than the Congress Plaza Hotel, but it provides a more updated experience overall. If you’re willing to pay a bit more, you might find it offers better value for the comfort and convenience.

Other Recommendations:
Ultimately, if you’re looking for the closest and most convenient location for museums, music venues, and sightseeing, the Congress Plaza Hotel is a great budget option. If you're willing to spend a little more for a more modern hotel experience with a prime location, the River Hotel is a solid choice. Both are centrally located, so you can't go wrong either way. Enjoy your trip to Chicago!
