Hotel located on Mardi Grass route
We are 2 adults, we will be in New Orleans as a first timer during Mardi Grass celebration (February). We like to stay in the hotel that located on Mardi Grass route, walking distance to restaurants and tourist stuff. We probably will use UBER while we are in N O, will not rent a car. Love seafood, and like to try the N O famous beignets. We love all the suggestions. Thank you in advance for all your contributions.
For first-time visitors to New Orleans planning to attend Mardi Gras in February, staying on or near a main parade route is ideal for convenience, atmosphere, and walking access to restaurants and tourist sites. Since you plan to use Uber and won’t have a car, a centrally located hotel in the French Quarter or nearby can be perfect for both parades and dining.
Recommended areas and hotels:
- French Quarter: Staying here puts you in the heart of the action. You will be within walking distance to iconic spots like Bourbon Street, Jackson Square, and the French Market. Many parades go through or near Canal Street, which borders the French Quarter.
- Royal Sonesta Hotel: Located on Bourbon Street, this hotel offers easy access to parades along Canal Street and nearby venues. The hotel has live music, a pool, and is steps from restaurants and bars.
- Hotel Monteleone: Famous for its Carousel Bar, this French Quarter hotel is a short walk to Canal Street parades, fine dining, and attractions like the French Market.
- The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans: On Canal Street, it’s right on many parade routes and within walking distance to high-end restaurants and the historic French Quarter sites.
- Omni Royal Orleans: Another French Quarter option, very close to parade routes and a short walk to cafés and famous beignet spots like Café du Monde.
Tips for Mardi Gras stay:
- Book as early as possible, as hotels on parade routes fill quickly during February.
- Check the specific parade route schedule for the year to make sure your hotel is on or very near a parade path you want to see.
- Uber is convenient for short trips outside the parade area, but expect high demand during peak parade times; walking is often faster for nearby attractions.
- For seafood, restaurants like GW Fins, Acme Oyster House, and Drago’s Seafood Restaurant are within walking distance from many French Quarter hotels.
- For beignets, Café du Monde or Café Beignet are iconic options nearby.
In summary, for first-timers wanting easy access to Mardi Gras parades, restaurants, and tourist attractions without renting a car, the French Quarter or nearby Canal Street hotels like Royal Sonesta, Hotel Monteleone, Omni Royal Orleans, and Ritz-Carlton are excellent choices.
