Laylow Waikiki - pet free?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking at booking the Laylow Waikiki. I noticed on social media they have photos of dogs laying on the bed in the guest room.

Now I like animals, and I have animals myself. But the thought of booking a hotel room that has had animals in the room and on the bed is not appealing. Can anyone confirm if this hotel has a pet free policy? Or are there any other hotel options in Waikiki that are pet free?

The Laylow Waikiki is a modern boutique hotel located near the center of Waikiki, and it does allow pets in certain rooms. While they offer pet-friendly accommodations, they do not advertise a fully pet-free policy for the entire property. This means that even if you book a standard room without pets, other rooms in the hotel may have housed pets previously, which could be a concern for highly sensitive guests or those who prefer to avoid rooms that have had animals.

If a strictly pet-free stay is important to you, it’s best to contact the hotel directly before booking to confirm which rooms are guaranteed pet-free. Some hotels can assign rooms in wings or floors that have never hosted pets, but this requires direct confirmation.

Other Waikiki hotel options that are generally pet-free include:

  • Halekulani Hotel: A luxury property known for elegance and quiet, Halekulani does not accommodate pets and is strictly pet-free.
  • Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa: While Westin’s brand can be pet-friendly, the Moana Surfrider does not widely allow pets, particularly in certain room categories—best to confirm directly.
  • Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort: This property is traditionally pet-free and focuses on family and leisure guests without animals on property.
  • Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa: Some rooms are pet-free, and the resort generally maintains strict cleaning protocols. Contacting the hotel in advance helps ensure a fully pet-free room.

When booking in Waikiki, always double-check with the hotel about their current pet policy, as some boutique or mid-range properties may allow pets selectively. If pet exposure is a concern, asking for a room in a wing that has never housed pets, and confirming deep-cleaning procedures, is the safest approach.
