Transfer from Cruise Ship to Airport

Can anyone recommend a transfer from the cruise ship port to the airport? We are sailing Norwegian so we'll be at Pier 2.

Traveling from the cruise ship terminal at Pier 2 in Honolulu to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) is straightforward, and there are several options depending on your comfort, budget, and timing preferences. Since Norwegian Cruise Line disembarks at Pier 2, you’re in a convenient location for most transfer services.

Here are your main options:

  • Private shuttle or taxi: You can pre-book a private transfer that will meet you at the pier and take you directly to the airport. This is the fastest and most convenient option, especially if you have luggage or are traveling with family. Most services can be booked online and provide a fixed price.
  • Shared shuttle services: Companies like Roberts Hawaii or SpeediShuttle offer shared rides from the cruise port to HNL. This is generally more affordable than a private transfer, but the shuttle may pick up other passengers and make additional stops along the way. Travel time is typically 20–30 minutes, depending on traffic.
  • Uber or Lyft: Ride-hailing apps operate in Honolulu and can pick you up directly from the cruise pier. This is a flexible option, though you should allow extra time for pickup, as the line for ride-hailing at the port can sometimes be long during multiple ship disembarkations.
  • Rental car drop-off: If you plan to rent a car during your stay or for other parts of your trip, some companies allow you to pick up a vehicle at the port and drop it off at the airport. This can combine your transportation needs into one step.

Tips from past travelers:

  • Confirm the disembarkation time with Norwegian and plan your transfer accordingly to avoid rushing.
  • Private transfers are often the most stress-free, especially with luggage or a tight flight schedule.
  • If you use a shared shuttle, book in advance to ensure availability, particularly during peak cruise season.
  • Allow at least 2–3 hours between cruise disembarkation and your flight departure to account for luggage retrieval and any security checks.

In summary, a private shuttle or taxi is the easiest, most direct way to get from Pier 2 to the airport, while shared shuttles or ride-hailing apps offer more economical alternatives. Plan ahead to match your flight schedule and avoid last-minute stress.
