ALOHA,
We are arriving from mainland on Hawaiian.. Just need to go to Baggage claim. Years ago I remember the WIKI WIKI to Baggage claim was a mess.. waited forever and most were full .. We ended up walking... HOW IS IT NOW? is it better just to walk and how long would it take to walk it.. (we are seniors, but no problems walking.. MAHALO
Arriving at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) in Honolulu on Hawaiian Airlines, passengers generally have two main options to reach the baggage claim area: using the WAIKIKI “Wiki Wiki” shuttle or walking. The situation has improved somewhat over the years compared to the issues you experienced in the past, but there are still a few factors to consider.
The airport has streamlined some of the Wiki Wiki routes, especially between gates and baggage claim areas, but wait times can vary depending on arrival volume and gate location. During peak travel times, shuttles may still be crowded or require waiting for multiple buses to arrive.
Practical advice:
Overall, for seniors in good health, walking from Hawaiian Airlines gates to baggage claim is generally efficient, comfortable, and avoids the occasional shuttle congestion. However, having the option of the Wiki Wiki shuttle provides flexibility if you want a more leisurely arrival.
