Restaurants & Napali Coast Tour
Planning a visit for early May '26. Staying at Westin Princeville. Have visited twice before, stayed on the east side and the south side for those visits. Looking to stay up north. Need recommendation for a Napali Coast Tour that departs from the north. Looking to do catamaran, not small boat. Also, looking for places for dinner with a view. Would like one or two nice dinners, others more casual. Thank you!!!
Staying at the Westin Princeville gives you excellent access to the north shore of Kauai, which is perfect for Napali Coast tours and scenic dining experiences. For a Napali Coast catamaran tour departing from the north, you’ll want a company that offers larger boats for comfort and stability, rather than small, sporty vessels.
Napali Coast Catamaran Tours from the North:
- Holo Holo Charters: Operates larger catamarans from Hanalei Bay, offering half-day and full-day tours along the Napali Coast. Snorkeling opportunities are included, and their boats are spacious, making it suitable for a comfortable cruise rather than a small, bouncy boat.
- Blue Dolphin Charters: Departing from Hanalei, they offer morning and afternoon Napali cruises on larger catamarans. They provide lunch on board for full-day tours and focus on a relaxing experience with great opportunities for photography.
- Hanalei Dolphin Tours: Offers catamaran tours along the north Napali Coast. The boats are large and stable, and their guides provide commentary on the coastline’s history and marine life. Snorkeling stops are optional.
Dining with a View – Nice Dinners:
- Bar Acuda (Hanalei): Known for fresh, local dishes with a fine dining twist. The ambiance is cozy but upscale, and it’s a favorite for couples or small groups.
- Postcards Cafe (Hanalei): Serves organic, locally sourced meals with a romantic setting. The portions are generous and the presentation is lovely, perfect for a special evening.
- Makana Terrace at St. Regis Princeville: Upscale dining with panoramic views of Hanalei Bay and the surrounding mountains. Great for sunset dinners.
Casual Dinner Options:
- Hanalei Taro & Juice Company: Great for a casual, authentic Hawaiian meal, featuring local taro-based dishes and fresh juices.
- Kalypso Island Bar & Grill (Hanalei): Relaxed vibe with burgers, fish tacos, and live music. Fun and easygoing for a casual night out.
- Thai Chef Restaurant (Hanalei): Excellent for casual international cuisine with vegetarian options and generous portions.
For your stay in May, the north shore typically has mild, pleasant weather, making both catamaran trips and open-air dining enjoyable. Booking tours and nicer restaurants in advance is recommended, as May can be a popular time for visitors.
