Restaurant for dinner night before cruise

Hi! Looking for somewhere local to Miami to eat dinner night before cruise. No fine dining. We are staying at the Elser and would either like to walk or short uber drive. Not opposed to mom and pop places!

Seafood, Cuban, etc. We are from Nebraska (I’ve been to Florida many times but gulf side and Orlando and panhandle) so you can imagine we aren’t really looking for a great steak. ☺️

Thank you!

Miami has a wealth of casual, local dining options within a short Uber ride or a manageable walk from the Elser hotel, especially if you’re looking for seafood, Cuban cuisine, or other local flavors. Here are some suggestions:

  • La Camaronera – A casual, no-frills seafood spot famous for its fresh fried shrimp and fish sandwiches. Perfect for a quick, authentic Miami experience.
  • Versailles Restaurant – Iconic Cuban restaurant in Little Havana, known for traditional Cuban dishes like ropa vieja, picadillo, and Cuban sandwiches. Very local and lively atmosphere.
  • El Palacio de los Jugos – Open-air market-style eatery offering fresh Cuban and Latin foods, juices, and pastries. Great for casual dining with lots of local flavor.

Other options that are slightly more varied but still casual:

  • Garcia’s Seafood Grille & Fish Market – Waterfront seafood spot with fresh catches and casual seating, close to downtown.
  • Doce Provisions – Modern Cuban-inspired tapas in a relaxed setting, perfect for trying multiple small plates.
  • CVI.CHE 105 – Highly regarded Peruvian restaurant serving ceviche and other seafood dishes; casual but very popular, so reservations may be needed.

Tips:

  • Uber or Lyft is convenient in Miami, especially if you plan to sample multiple spots or avoid parking hassles.
  • Weeknights tend to be less busy than weekends, but a reservation is still recommended for popular spots.
  • If you prefer walking, focus on nearby Midtown or Wynwood, which have a cluster of casual, trendy eateries with local flair.

Overall, for a pre-cruise dinner, you can enjoy authentic local cuisine without fine dining formality, whether that’s fresh seafood or classic Cuban dishes.
