Abashiri Prison: A Fascinating Experience

On the last day of our trip, the weather finally stabilized and cleared up ☀️
Since we were there, we decided to visit Abashiri Prison, a place we'd been interested in for a while!
We arrived around 11:00 AM and first grabbed a bite to eat 🍴
I ordered a loco moco bowl at the prison's cafeteria, and my friend ordered a sanma (Pacific saury) set meal. For some reason, food tastes even better when you're traveling! 😋
After dinner, we took our time to explore the prison building.
The original buildings remain intact, and it felt like we'd traveled back in time... It's a rare sight, so it was a refreshing experience. 👀✨
Of course, it's a place where "bad people" lived, but hearing the stories of the prisoners who were forced to endure harsh labor was truly uplifting.
Learning about their contributions to the development of Hokkaido made it more than just sightseeing, it also provided a time for deep reflection.
While I thought, "I definitely don't want to go in here...lol,"
it also motivated me to do my best in what I can do now. 💪
I'm so glad I came because it was such a unique experience!
It was a memorable day, fitting for the end of my trip. 😊
